Week 107: The Drought

Week 107. The drought. Panama is suffering from drought (thanks to el niño) and we are suffering together with it. While Panama is preparing to partially shut down the Panama Canal, our siestas are becoming longer and longer everyday. Can you imagine cycling in a country where you have to start your siesta at 8 in the morning?

Supermoon Eclipse

Watching supermoon eclipse. The local people came out too. Apparently, local evening news announced that they can watch it live, so they got outside. They brought a broken telescope with them, but didn’t notice that it’s not working. How? They are very drunk. So drunk, that one fell off the chair while watching the moon. Oh, the romance… 10 minutes till full eclipse!

Quiz: Big Cat

Quiz Friday! It’s been a while since our last ‘what is this’ quiz, so – Question: What is this? We found it at the zoo, it’s not a cub and it’s just a bit bigger than a house cat.
The winner will get a personal kilometer as well as a place in our Hall of Fame (http://on.fb.me/1JAdFTC). The quiz ends on Monday (00:00 GMT). The winner will be announced on Tuesday. The winner will be drawn at random from all the correct entries.

Week 104: Power Outage

Week 104. Power outage. Central America is not known for stable power supply. So our highlight of this week is shopping without lights. You get a torch and then you help yourself through the small mini-super (local name for general store). At the end the lady looks with her own torch what is in your shopping cart (or what you put on her desk) and sums all up in a calculator (because nothing works without a calculator in Latin America). Oh and she knows all the prices by heart so no trouble with that.
