This 14 second video perfectly sums up our experience in Panama.
Panama
Panama is done!
Good news: we are in Costa Rica! Bad news: Panama charged us 300usd for leaving the country*. Good news: new time zone! Bad news: we will have to wake up at 3:30am instead of our usual 4:30am. Good news: new currency! Bad news: cash mashines are not giving us our cash…
*300usd?! Why, you ask? Glad that you asked! When we entered Panama in Portobelo, the migration office workers put wrong stamps into our passports. We asked about this other migration office workers in Panama City and they couldn’t help us. So naturally, when we were leaving Panama, the migration office workers said: ‘Aha! Wrong stamp! Here is your fine!’ and were deaf to our pleas. Did you already hear, that we don’t like Panama? In case you missed it – we really hate Panama!
Week 109: David
Week 109. So close, yet so far. We are in the last major town of Panama – David. Only 50 Kilometers and one mountain separates us from the most complicated border of all Latin America. Paso Canoas will be our first Central American bordercrossing. We will be in Costa Rica afterwards.
Live from the Road
Live from the road: short break in the middle of road construction site. One side of the highway is closed for cars, so we can use it as our private road!
Week 108: Birthdays on the Road
Week 108. Birthdays on the road. You know that you’re getting old when there are that many candles on your cake…
P.S. Still stuck in Panama.
Week 107: The Drought
Week 107. The drought. Panama is suffering from drought (thanks to el niƱo) and we are suffering together with it. While Panama is preparing to partially shut down the Panama Canal, our siestas are becoming longer and longer everyday. Can you imagine cycling in a country where you have to start your siesta at 8 in the morning?
Well I don’t know how to call that
Sven Schickedanz also known as El Muchacho del cuarto 4 also known as Seven Schichecken also known as Seven S. Also, don’t be fooled by 6 stars – several car fresheners to hide the smell and no toilet door prove otherwise.
Supermoon Eclipse
Watching supermoon eclipse. The local people came out too. Apparently, local evening news announced that they can watch it live, so they got outside. They brought a broken telescope with them, but didn’t notice that it’s not working. How? They are very drunk. So drunk, that one fell off the chair while watching the moon. Oh, the romance… 10 minutes till full eclipse!
Quiz: Big Cat
Quiz Friday! It’s been a while since our last ‘what is this’ quiz, so – Question: What is this? We found it at the zoo, it’s not a cub and it’s just a bit bigger than a house cat.
The winner will get a personal kilometer as well as a place in our Hall of Fame (http://on.fb.me/1JAdFTC). The quiz ends on Monday (00:00 GMT). The winner will be announced on Tuesday. The winner will be drawn at random from all the correct entries.
Week 106: Suprise
Week 106. There are some certain things that you don’t want to find next to you in the morning, after sleeping outside without a tent. Here is one of those things that we didn’t want to, but yet found. We won’t repeat the experiment ‘let’s ditch the tent’ anytime soon.
