Rainbow after a storm early in the morning
Short break in the shade. There isn’t much (if any) shade in the desert, so you take what you can find. In this case, Sven and Tulku are using the shade provided by bicycle.
Giant roadrunner statue! We’ve seen many roadrunners along the road. Funny thing: before coming to USA we both though that roadrunner was a fictional cartoon character, not a real bird. You live and learn…
Visiting historic Fort Stockton. It might not look very impressive, but it was very hard to build it back then. The lumber had to be transported with ship to nAtlantic coast and later with oxes over the endless desert…
Old maps in historic Fort Stockton
Family photo in the first National Park in USA that we visited! We were very reluctant about visiting these caves: it was a logistic nightmare to get there and it’s a cave! We’ve already seen many caves! But after Mr. Obama went there, we decided to go there too and we were blown away by the experience! Words fail to describe how huge these caverns are.
Carlsbad caverns lay 240 meters under the surface. You can either take an elevator down in just few seconds or walk the natural entrance trail for 1 hour. We did both!
Carlsbad caverns are huge! You can’t fit them in one picture. We walked more than 5 kilometers inside of them and there are much more other trails to explore!
A pond inside of the Carlsbad Caverns. Once the water gets in, it can’t get out! Down in the cave the temperature is +13C and 90% humidity all year long.
Huge formation in Carlsbad Caverns. Some of the stalagmites are as high as 18 meters!
